Sound is good, but the firmware hurdles, voice quality, and cheap feeling materials make it meh – Overall, I’d say it isn’t worth the price. I connected it right after unboxing and the mic quality was absolute dog water. Even turning voice sensitivity off in discord and canceling all noise cancellation left my voice fading in and out and sounded worse than from a $40 headset I had. I figured maybe it was a software issue and read the manual to see where to get the software. It led me to a site that then had me download a program that included a lot of random shit I don’t need. After looking around a few minutes I finally found the spot that lets you get the software updates. 2 critical updates were required. I had to download a whole ass program just to be able to download a software update that the device needed to function properly… I paid almost $200 to have to do all this? (‘:

– So the sound quality is nice, it has bluetooth which is a bonus but the ear paddings aren’t gel. So if you sweat of just have a naturally high body heat, this is going to make you uncomfortable.

The best gaming headset I’ve ever owned – This is going to be a PS5 centric review since I don’t use the headset for any other platform. Also, I’ve only ever owned one other “premium” headset so much of my opinion will be based on my previous experience.

Last good Arctis headset – I’ve had an Arctis 7 for four years. I wanted bluetooth. I tried out the new Arctis Nova 7, but didn’t like the requirement of the Steelseries Sonar to get chatmix to work. It’s awful software. This appears to be the last headset made by steelseries that doesn’t require extra software to get its core features working. It’s pretty much a 7, but with bluetooth. You can install the software initially to update the firmware and uninstall it. Chatmix is a hardware based solution here like in the 7. Use Windows Spatial Audio Dolby Headphone, it’s far better solution than anything built into any headsets.
