Installation in my new build couldn’t have been easier. – Pretty much just removed the cooling pipe, inserted the drive, turned the lock, and put the cooling pipe back on. I had to tell the computer it had a new drive but that’s just basic PC stuff. Here’s my build, rock stable and fast as hell!

Samsung aims to please! – Samsung has become a first class manufacturer of many tech products. Anything Samsung makes is excellent. In fact, Samsung makes video panels for many other tech manufacturer. This 980 NVME drive is super in several ways. It has become more affordable. When Samsung runs a price break, run to the store or online and get it. Then you will have a double deal. Installation is as simple as with any drive. Samsung’s reliability is excellent. This drive will outlast the computer it is installed in. The NVME drives are extremely fast. Boot time and data exchange will amaze you. Samsung gives you value and reliability. All my main drives are Samsung.

SAMSUNG 980 SSD 1TB PCle 3.0×4, NVMe M.2 2280 – Needed to replace a 500GB M2 2230 in a Dell laptop. Was a little wary of this being a different configuration, but it looked like it would work in the service manual. Installation was actually pretty easy. Cloning the original before installation was a bit more confusing. I had a case to use and decided to use the Samsung Magician software, but it wasn’t seeing the the drive. I had read something somewhere about being sure to have the drivers, but couldn’t find anything on that, and it turns out it wasn’t the problem anyway. Then it occurred to me I needed to go into Disk Management and initialize (if that is the word) the drive. Once I handled that the Magician software did the job. It does warn that it clones only the OS partition, and I wish it had also copied the backup partition, but I’ll find another way to get a backup. So 5 stars.

Great M.2 NVMe SSD, but NOT for PS5 – This is a great option for M.2 SSDs, and these get consistently good reviews.

Good option to easily replace stock 1TB HDD in Dell XPS 8910 but order M.2 screw separately – After seeing how easy it was to replace the stock 1TB HDD in a Dell XPS 8930 with a slowly dying HDD by a 980 Pro using Samsung Data Migration, I decided to install another 1TB SSD in one of our older home computers, a Dell XPS 8910 that also came with a 1TB HDD.
