GREAT, with some tweaking – Take a look at my screenshot.

Mostly for gaming in surround – Was looking for headsets that provide surround sound to play without having to use my quaking surround system. I had tried “virtual surround” but really couldn’t tell any difference so found these and so far, they sound really great, for GAMING! If planning to listen to music through these, don’t bother OR tweak the EQ as they sound HORRIBLE out of the box for music listening. Barely any stereo separation and too muddy sounding.

Headset for the serious Surround Sound listener! – Virtual Headset listeners are ok for the first person shooter gamers, but whether you’re a gamer that REALLY wants to hear where a sound is coming from or the music listener that wants more dimension or club environment from their music, this is the headset for you. Ideally, this SHOULD be combo-ed with a sound card (internally or externally) that offers at least 5.1 Surround Sound, & my preference is that its without Dolby. Dolby is great for stereo music WITH stereo sound cards to stereo speaker systems, but I have learned from trial & error during music recording, upmixing, & mastering into 5.1 music files with a 5.1 Surround Sound audio card, Dolby is Not an option for this; & this headset PROVES that. This headset does have a bit of a learning curve & a couple minor cons some reviewers have mentioned, but reviewers have gave excellent info to help dial it in for you. IF you are looking to use this headset back & forth from 2.1 to 7.1, its not gonna happen. I am totally disappointed in the stereo in this headset, but then again, I didn’t buy it for the stereo aspect of it, but the TRUE 7.1 quality instead, & in that department, it excels. I use it for recording monitoring & it CLEARLY allows me to hear my Upmixs how I need them to sound & aids me in adjusting my Upmix process accordingly.
